Roix, Effie (8 JUN 1871 - 8 DEC 1940)

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2:00 from the Congregational Church at Reseburg for Mrs. Effie Roix, 69. The final rites were read by the Rev. W.P.D. Powe of the Owen Congregational Church.

Effie Roix had been in very poor health for the past six months and because of her failing condition it was necessary that she submit her self to a major operation which she did six weeks ago. Since that time however she had failed to recuperate as she was expected to, due to a poison in her system. She passed away at her home Sunday evening, Dec. 8, 1940, at 8:00 o’clock in the evening.

She was born in the state of Minnesota on June 8, 1871, and when a child of one years she moved with her parents to Wisconsin, where she has since made her home.

In 1902 at Medford she was united in marriage to Willington Roix, who preceded her in passing on to eternity seven years ago.

Mrs. Roix was the mother of three children, a daughter, Crystal Shores of Withee, and two sons, Herb and Melvin of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). Others who are mourning her departure are three grandchildren, Bonnie Lucille, Crystal Edith and Gealdine Ruth Roix; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence Garin of Bismark, N.D., and a brother, Enea Irish of Detroit, Mich. Interment was made in the church cemetery at Reseburg.
