Ruggles, Ruth (27 AUG 1940)

Mr. Arthur Evenson, son of Christ Evenson of Stanley, and Miss Ruth Ruggles, daughter of Arthur Ruggles of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were united in marriage by Rev. Powe at the Congregational Parsonage at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, Aug. 27th, 1940.

The couple was attended by Russell Evenson, brother of the groom and Doris Ruggles, the bride’s only sister of Milwaukee, who wore a dusty rose silk crepe dress with a shoulder corsage of sweet peas.

The bride was attired in a white silk crepe gown with a shoulder corsage of lilies and an amethyst set pendant which was worn by her maternal grandmother.

Before the ceremony, Miss Margaret Marking sang "O Promise Me" and after the ceremony, "I Love Your Truly."

A reception was held in the Congregational Parlor for 30 guests.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. E. Evenson of Pardeeville, Mrs. Byron Monteer of Endeavor, Mr. and Mrs. James Evenson and son Vernal of Ettrick, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan DeSota and children, Betty and DeWayne of Unite, George Evenson of Sparta.

The bride and groom left on a two weeks trip to southern Wisconsin. The bride wore a traveling dress of dusty rose. She also received several bridal showers before the wedding.

They will be at home on the groom’s farm near Stanley when they return from their trip.
