Tiedemann, Herman C. (11 JUL 1873 - 4 JUN 1940)

Herman C. Tiedemann, 66, who retired as State Game Warden three years ago, passed away last week Tuesday of a heart attack at his home here (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.). Although he had been ailing for several months past with heart disease, his death came as a sudden shock to family and friends.

Mr. Tiedemann was rated as one of the best conservation wardens in the state and was employed in that capacity for 27 years. He succeeded Warden Chas. Little. Before that time he was a surveyor and in earlier days was leader of an orchestra here.

The deceased was born on July 11, 1873, at Kiel, Wis., the son of Christian and Magdalena Tiedemann. He came here with his parents in the year 1882 and has been a continuous resident of this village since that time. In 1894 he was united in marriage to Laura Mead, at Abbotsford, Wis. To this union was born one son and two daughters, Kenneth of Owen, Wis., Vivien (Mrs. J.C. Garvue), Marshfield, and Esther (Mrs. R.A. Tausend) Milwaukee, who with two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Brintall and Mrs. John Krupp of Seattle, Wash., survive him.

Last rites were conducted by Rev. Jas. Irish at the Bogumill Funeral Home at 2:30 o’clock last Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wm. E. Barrett, R.G. Lawrence, Dr. G.A. Schief, Bernie Rusch, D.D. Stookey and Albert Childs.
