ANDREW SHEPPARD, proprietor sawmill. Sec. 32, P. O. Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Born in Canada, April 25, 1819. Came to Galena, Ill., in 1839, and worked there until the Spring of 1840, came up the Black River to what was then known as O'Neill's Creek, but which has since been changed to Perry Creek. Here he worked at the lumber business and in the Summer of 1842 built a saw-mill on Squaw Creek, remaining there over thirty years, during which time he built fifteen sawmills and two grist-mills on Black River. They have lost four children — Jeremiah, Susanna, Arminda and May.
