Andersen, Anders Peter (8 FEB 1868 - 14 JAN 1940)

Anders Peter Andersen, 71, pioneer resident of the community, passed away at his farm north of the village of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) Sunday, Jan. 14, 1940, after having lived there for the past 27 years.

Funeral services were conducted from the Danish Lutheran Church at Withee on Tuesday, Jan. 16, with the Rev. Jens A. Holst officiating at the service. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Anders Andersen was born on Feb. 8, 1868, in Denmark, where he spent his early boyhood, attending school in that country. In early manhood he left Denmark and came to America to make his home.

He was united in marriage to Miss Johanna Baago at Tyler, Minn., on July 2, 1899, where they lived for a couple of years, later moving to Askov, Minn. In 1913 Mr. Andersen and his family left Askov for Withee where he has since made his home.

He was the father of three children, two sons, Skjold of Milwaukee, and Dan of Withee, and one daughter, Dr. Agnes A. Smith of Withee, who survive him.

Mr. Andersen, although not having to be confined to his bed, had been in poor health for a long time. However, at all times he was the possessor of a pleasant disposition and enjoyed the company of those about him. His absence will be keenly felt in his home.

Pallbearers at the service were Jacob Christensen, Jens A. Jensen, Rudolph Fergerson, Andrew Olson, Marinus Jensen, and Marius Jensen.
