Matkovich, Emelia #2 (18 AUG 1939)

A wedding involving two prominent Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) people was solemnized Sunday, Aug. 18, 1939, at the Holy Family Catholic Church at Willard (Clark Co.) when Miss Emelia Matkovich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Matkovich of Willard, exchanged vows with Samuel A. Bertram, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Bertram of Chippewa Falls.

Following the ceremony a dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents for the immediate friends and relatives of the family, after which the newlyweds left on a week’s trip before returning home.

The bride is a graduate of the Greenwood High School and a school of beauty culture. Before coming to Owen a year ago this summer she was employed as an operator at Neillsville, Wis. A year ago this summer she purchased the beauty shop located in the Woodland Hotel, which she has successfully operated the past year. She has made a host of friends in the community.

The groom has been employed as bookkeeper in the local office of the Northern States Power Co. for a number of years and during his stay in the city has become well known and popular with everyone.
