Bryant, Cora J. Dr. (4 May 1874 - 26 Mar. 1941)

Miss Cora Bryant, a former Colby citizen, died at Hoquiam, Wash., on Wednesday, March 26, and funeral services will be held at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby on Sunday ***Note: The rest of the article was cut off and not available at the time of transcription.

Funeral services for Dr. Cora J. Bryant, age 66, whose death we reported last week, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby, Rev. Harry Lee officiating and internment was made in the Colby cemetery.

The pall bearers were C. Joe Kraus, L. W. Frane, A. X. Umhoefer, C. A. Nelsen, Dr. A. L. Schemmer and Ed. Zillmann.

Dr. Bryant was a member of the Colby library board for many years, was chairman of the book committee for sixteen years and held the offices of vice president, secretary, treasurer and librarian at various times. She was also a member of the Colby Cemetery Association while in Colby, Wis., and up to the time of her death was a member of the Equitable Reserve Association of Colby, Wis.

The deceased was born on May 4, 1874, and came to Colby from Vermont with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bryant while she was a child. Mr. Bryant operated a furniture factory here. After she graduated from Colby, Wis. High School in 1891, she studied music at Oberlin College, Ohio. She taught school in Colby for several years and then studied dentristry at Marquette University at Milwaukee, graduating in 1904. She then practiced dentristry and in the fall of 1924, she went to Hoquiam, Washington with her mother to be near her brother, William Bryant. Both Mrs. Bryant and son died a few years later.

Out of town people attending the funeral were Miss Fanny Kugel, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Seift and daughter, Connie, of Menomonie, Miss Pearl Blanchard of Minneapolis, Miss Mabel Neumeister of St. Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Peacock of Wauwatosa.
