Bell, Frank (1896? - 31 Mar. 1941)

Frank Bell, Abbotsford merchant about 45 years old, was killed Monday afternoon at about 4:30 when his car struck a pool of water on Highway 13, four miles north of Marshfield, causing the car to get out of control, crash into a telephone pole and turn over on its side. It is believed he suffered a broken neck and he died while he was being taken to the Marshfield hospital.

Four other occupants of the car, Elmer Schraufnagel, Harold Reeves, Charles Brunner and Ambrose Keller, all of Abbotsford, Wis., were uninjured save for minor scratches. These companions spent forty minutes in extricating Bell and Schraufnagel from the front seat of the car and were hampered by the fact that the car was lying in water. The car was badly damaged. Bell died in the car of Dr. H. T. Callahan of Spencer who was called to the scene of the accident.

Bell was instrumental in getting the group of men together to serve as possible blood donors for Mrs. Lawrence Weix of Abbotsford who is seriously ill at the Marshfield hospital and the men were on their way to the hospital at the time of the accident.
