Hansen, Hans & Augusta (Gold - 2 MAY 1939)

The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Hansen, who reside a half mile north of the village of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), was celebrated Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen are pioneer residents of the town of Hixon, coming to that vicinity more than 40 years ago from Rhinelander, where they first settled after coming from Denmark.

Mr. and Mrs. Hansen were married May 2, 1889, in Denmark, and after their marriage came to America, locating at Rhinelander, where they lived for eight years. Since that time they have lived in the township of Hixon. To this union were born six children, two of them having passed away several years ago. Those living came home this week for the golden wedding anniversary. They are Mrs. F. Dickhaut of Chicago, Alfred Hansen of St. Paul; Carl Hansen of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and Mrs. Albert Madsen of Withee, Wis.

At noon a large anniversary dinner was served at their home, about 24 immediate relatives being present. The Rev. and Mrs. Jens A. Holst, pastor of the Danish Lutheran Church also were guests. In the afternoon open house was held and a great number of their friends called to extend to them congratulations. In the evening, a reception was given for them at the Danish assembly hall, and here the congregation of the church was present. Rev. Holst gave a short talk and an interesting but short program was rendered.

Mr. and Mrs. Hansen are held in the highest esteem among their neighbors and friends and have been prominent people in the many years that they have had their residence here. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hansen are enjoying good health and expect to enjoy many more years of married life together. They are now 85 and 80 years of age.

Those from away who came to be present at the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. F. Dickhaut of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hansen of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hansen of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Madsen of Withee, Wis.

Grandchildren attending were Mrs. Joseph Galli of Chicago; Alfred Dickhaut of Chicago; Mrs. Evelyn Petersen of Chicago; and Phyllis, Marion and Paul Hansen of St. Paul.

Great-grandchildren attending were Raymond Edward Petersen and Tonette Ann Galli of Chicago; C.R. Hansen, a brother of St. Paul, and Mrs. Sena Petersen of Chicago were other out of town relatives who were present.
