Bennett, Erva (Marriage - 7 Sept. 1940)

The marriage of Miss Erva Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bennett, town of Brighton, and Harold Ruppert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ruppert, town of Hull, was solemnized last Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Abbotsford by the Rev. E. L. Hoover.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents and a supper was served to 30 relatives and friends. Streamers of green, peach and white were festooned above the bridal table, which had for its decoration lighted candles and a three-tiered wedding cake.

Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bennett and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fogarty, Wausau; Mrs. Mary Hanawalt, grandmother of the bride, and Miss Elizabeth Hanawalt, Marshfield; Miss Eunice Bennett of Sparta; Howard Harris, Alfred Smart, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smart, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ruppert and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ruppert of Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jeske and son, Billy, Spencer, Wis.

For the ceremony, the bride wore her sister’s long tulle veil, draped from a headdress of orange blossoms and chose a floor-length gown of white frosted organdy. Her flowers were roses showered with sweet peas and asters.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smart, town of Hull, attended the couple. Mrs. Smart is the bride’s sister and Mr. Smart is a cousin of the bridegroom. Mrs. Smart was attired in a formal of peach taffeta and carried an arm bouquet of asters, daisies and gladioli.

Mr. and Mrs. Ruppert are residing with the former’s parents on their farm near Colby, Wis.
