Elliot, Alys Marie (Marriage - 17 Aug. 1940)

A pretty wedding was solemnized at St. Mary’s church Saturday, Aug. 17th, when Miss Alys Marie Elliot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Elliot of Spencer, Wisconsin, became the bride of Arthur R. Hemmy, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Hemmy of Colby, Rev. L. J. Lang reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Theone Elliot was maid of honor and Mrs. Vernon Ellis, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Mr. Vernon Ellis.

The bride was attired in a green costume suit with matching accessories and her shoulder corsage consisted of gardenias. The maid of honor wore an oxford gray ensemble with matching accessories and her shoulder corsage consisted of gardenias. Mrs. Ellis wore a green custom suit and matching accessories and her shoulder corsage also consisted of gardenias.

A wedding breakfast was served at the Hotel Robinson for the immediate relatives. The newlyweds left on a wedding trip to points in Wisconsin and Illinois and will be at home in Colby, Wis., after Aug. 26th.

The groom is a graduate of the Colby, Wis. High School and attended the Central State Teachers’ College. He is employed as bookkeeper at the Security State Bank.

The bride is a graduate of the Spencer High School and attended LaCrosse Business College. She has been employed for the past three and one-half years at the Dairy Belt Cheese & Butter Co. at Spencer, Wis., as stenographer.
