Schnettler, Nicholas John (17 Oct. 1923 - 24 Sept. 2006)

Nicholas John Schnettler, 82, of Owen, Wis., and formerly of Northbrook, died Sept. 24 in Owen, Wisconsin. Mr. Schnettler was born Oct. 17, 1923 in Sheboygan, Wis. He attended Sheboygan North High School and earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics from Saint Norbert College in DePere, Wis. Mr. Schnettler started working for Shell Oil Company in the Milwaukee vicinity before moving to the Chicago area. He and business partner Otto Siebenman started Nicot Oil Company as petroleum product brokers. Mr. Schnettler eventually went on to form Nic J. Schnettler and Associates, a petroleum marketing consulting firm.

Mr. Schnettler dedicated almost 28 years of service to the Boy Scouts. He served as Scoutmaster for Troop 67 and held various district positions with the Northeast Illinois Council of Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Schnettler took great pride in guiding his boy scouts. After retiring, Mr. Schnettler became active in fundraising for St. Peter the Fisherman parish church in Eagle River, Wis.

Mr. Schnettler is survived by his wife Constance Schnettler of Eagle River; children Nicholas P. (Mary G.) Schnettler of Northbrook, Paul (Robin) Schnettler of Stoughton, Wis., John (Jenifer) Schnettler of Canton, Ohio, Joseph (Shirley) Schnettler of St. Peters, Mo., Steve (Renee) Schnettler of Northbrook and Ana Schnettler of Grayslake; grandchildren Nicholas, Mathew, Daniel, Timothy, Katherine, William, Thomas, Joseph, Eric, Dawn, Beth and Jessica; and siblings Jerome, Marion, Gertrude, Catherine and Dorothy.

Funeral service was Sept. 29 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Interment was in Plum Lake Cemetery in Sayner, Wis.
