Died, at the hospital at Medford, Wis., on Wednesday, Feb. 1st, 1939, Mrs. Gene Brunner, aged 31 years and 2 days.

The last services were held at St. Bernard’s Church at Thorp at ten o’clock Saturday morning, Feb. 4th, Rev. A.M. Muckerheide officiating. Beside her in the casket lay the baby boy in whose birth she gave her own life.

The flowers were many and beautiful, but not more beautiful than the face that rested so peacefully among them. Beautiful in life, beautiful in death, but far more beautiful in the glorious resurrection morn. Flowers seem to be an emblem we have to express our love, for we wreathe them around the cradle, the marriage altar and the tomb. Thus would we leave her and her babe, and in memory keep them, as sweetly reposing among the beautiful and fragrant flowers.

Rosella Herman was born in Thorp on Jan. 20, 1908. She was brought up here and attended the local schools, graduating from the Thorp High School in 1926. She then attended the Milwaukee County School of Nursing, graduating from that institution in 1929, accepting a position as County Nurse of Monroe County at Sparta, where she remained one year before becoming the City Nurse at Marinette, Wis. This position she held until her marriage to Gene Brunner of Thorp, which event took place at St. Bernard’s Church her on Aug. 22, 1935. Her home was again here in Thorp until May 1937, when she moved with her husband to Medford, residing there until her death.

She leaves to mourn, her husband and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Herman of Thorp, four sisters, Louise, Theresa and Jeanne of Thorp, and Mrs. Frank Kowieski of Chicago.; two brothers, Bob and Jerry of Thorp, and many friends.

The body was laid to rest in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Raymond Zaborowski, Orville McGinnis, Stanley Sczygiel, Stuart Walsdorf, Marion Herman and Ray Izydorek.
