Colby, Daniel G. (3 APR 1864 - 21 NOV 1938)

Daniel G. Colby, 74, a former resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and one of the firm of Colby Bros. Saw & Grist Mill here, some years ago, died at his home in Wis. Dells on Nov. 21st, 1938, following a heart attack. He has been in good health and engaged in his business of milling.

Mr. Colby was born in Easton, Wis. on April 3, 1864. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Van Loo at Thorp on Sept. 1, 1921. To this union were born three children, Robert, Marceil and Dan, who with his wife, survive him. He also leaves two brothers, Frank of Ocala, Florida, and Len of Easton.

The funeral was held at Wis. Dells at nine o’clock Thursday and burial was made in Calvary Cemetery. Rev. Thos. Riordon officiated. Pallbearers were, John Kelly, Dan Greenwood, George Gray, Fred Geiger, Thos. Doherty and Wm. Gaffney.

Those from Thorp who attended the funeral were: Anton Van Loo, Mrs. Fred Warns, Lawrence Van Loo, Gilbert Vanderhyden, Mrs. Jay Alger and Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Vanderhyden.
