Slupski, Thomas (14 MAY 1887 - 15 NOV 1938)

Thomas Slupski, 51, succumbed to a heart attack as he stepped from the high school bus on his way to the doctor’s office, Tuesday morning.

He had complained of pains in his chest about seven o’clock at his home five miles northeast of the village (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.), and being unable to start his car, he secured a ride to town with John Huls in the school bus. He collapsed as he stepped out of the bus and was carried up to Dr. Kulig’s office, where he passed away.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at ten o’clock

Funeral rites for Thos. Slupski of the town of Withee, whose death was recorded in this newspaper last week, were held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Friday morning last, Rev. Wiktorowski officiating.

His death, which came as a sudden shock to his family and friends, occurred about eight o’clock Monday morning, Nov. 14th. Stricken with heart attack he died before loved ones could be summoned to his side. "Tom" as he was called by all his friends, was of an exceptionally generous nature and his familiar face, cheery smile and friendly greeting will be greatly missed, especially by his neighbors.

Thomas Slupski was born in Poland May 14th, 1887, having reached the age of 51 years, 6 months and 1 day. He came to America with his parents at the age of six years and has spent nearly all of the intervening years in this vicinity. On Sept. 17, 1907, he was united in marriage to Verna Strugala at St. Hedwig’s Church, Pozen. Surviving relatives who mourn his untimely demise are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. John (Helen) Skrzypek of Thorp; Mrs. John (Theresa) Dulek of Chicago; and Miss Rosecella Slupski at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Slupski of Thorp; one brother, Leon of Chicago; five sisters, Mrs. John (Adna) Afluth, Stevens Point, Mrs. Frank (Josephine) Hoffman, Mrs. Phil (Anna) Ziakowski, Mrs. Mike (Elizabeth) Bronars of Chicago, and Mrs. Louis (Hattie) Dymek of Thorp; and two grandsons, Raymond and Edward Skrzypek.

Burial was made in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Anton Sobolewski, Martin Przysmycki, Paul Konieczny, Anton Cieciora, Frank Jasinek, and Tony Glamkowski.
