Zimmer, Genevieve (Marriage - 15 Aug. 1942)

Miss Genevieve Zimmer, Hines, Ill., daughter of Mrs. Emma Zimmer, Neillsville, and Durward Wittkopf, 1528 40th Street, Stone Park, Ill., son of Mrs. Amos Barr, Urbana, Ohio, will be united in marriage at St. Mel’s Rectory Church, Ill., at five p.m. August 15, 1942. Rev. Fr. Dominic Kotek, O. S. B., chaplain at St. Anthony’s Hospital, will perform the single ring ceremony. Only immediate relatives will be present.

The bride will be gowned in white embossed mousseline de sole and a fingertip veil. Her arm bouquet will consist of white gladioli. Her sister, Miss Jeanette Zimmer, as maid of honor, will were blue embossed mousseline de sole. Her flowers, which will be yellow gladioli, also will be carried upon her arm. Frank Roder, Chicago, will act as best man.

Lovely little fair-haired Donna Mae Cowen, who visited at the Zimmer home last week, will act as flower girl. She will be dressed in yellow, the material being exactly like that in the gowns of the bride and her attendant. Donna Mae will carry Picardy glads.

Mrs. Zimmer will wear figured shear while the groom’s mother will wear old rose lace, both having carnation corsages.

A reception will be held at 1021 Newport Ave., Chicago, fifty guests being invited. The decorations, planned and arranged by the groom’s cousin, Mrs. Frank Roder, are to be complete surprise to the couple.

The bride a registered nurse was graduated from the Neillsville High School and from St. Anthony’s Hospital, Chicago where she was employed for a time after her graduation. For the past year she has been employed at the Veteran’s Hospital, Hines, Ill. She will return to her work after a month’s vacation, part of which she spent with her mother and sister in Neillsville, Wis.

After completing the high school course at Lawton, N. D., the groom attended the Engineers Institute in Chicago for a year. He is employed as a government Ordnance inspector at the Borg & Warner plant, Maywood, Ill.

Out of town relatives present for the wedding were: Mrs. Emma Zimmer and daughter, Jeannette, Neillsville; Henry Wittkopf, Hayden Lake, Idaho, father of the groom, and Mrs. Amos Barr, his mother and her husband, Urbana, Ohio.

The couple will be at home at 1046 Thomas Street, Forest Park, Ill.
