Matson, Willard "Bill" (? - September 24, 2007)

Willard "Bill" Matson died on September 24, 2007 in Wyoming, MN at the age of 93.

Bill was born to Andrew "Mike" and Jennie Matson in Rush City, MN and graduated from the Rush City High School in 1931. He worked at his father’s grocery store, Amber Milling Co. in Rush City, and various aircraft companies in Los Angeles, Baltimore, and Omaha. From 1945 to 1977 he was purchasing Agent at Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis.

He married Ella Rolf, Pine City in 1945. She died in 1976 and in 1877 he married one of his former Rush City classmates, Evelyn Jane Ericson Overman. They lived in Neillsville until 1993 when they moved to the Presbyterian Homes on Lake Minnetonka, Spring Park, MN, and then to Pine Terrace Retirement Community, Black River Falls, and finally to The Margaret S. Parmly Residence, Chisago City, MN.

He was preceded in death by is wife, Evelyn.

He is survived by three step-children, Kay Johnson, of Neillsville; Tom (Sharon) Overman, of Salome, AZ; and Dr. Jerry (Lynn) Overman, of Neillsville and their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday September 27, 2007 at The Margaret S. Parmly Chapel, 28210 Old Towne Rd. Chisago City, MN 55013.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Parmly Chapel. Interment will be at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Rush City, MN.

Memorials can be made to Parmly Van Fund and First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rush City, MN.

Grandstrand Funeral Home, Lindstrom, MN assisted the family.
