Yates, Arthur N. (28 JUN 1879 - 10 DEC 1938)

A lingering illness which has been burdening his health for the past two years, and especially so the past two months, proved fatal to the life of Arthur Nelson Yates, who passed away at his home on Fourth St. Saturday forenoon, Dec. 10, 1938.

Mr. Yates had returned home Tuesday of last week from the Wis. General Hospital at Madison, where he had been for the past six weeks receiving treatment for his illness. He did not respond very readily to treatment and when he returned home his health was in a critical condition. He was 59 years of age at the time of his passing.

Arthur Nelson Yates was one of three sons born to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Yates, both of whom are now deceased, at Merrillan Junction, on June 28, 1879.

On June 28, 1912, he was united in marriage to Miss Rose Mary Turenne at Thorp. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Yates and family made their home at Reseburg, moving to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1924. Ever since Mr. Yates moved to Owen, up until the time he became ill, he had been employed at the Owen Box & Crating Co. He was also president of the local Townsend Club No. 1, of Owen, Wis.

Mr. Yates has always been a model citizen, law abiding and was a wonderful husband and father to his family. His loss will be keenly felt in the home as well as in the community.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Rose; three daughters, Mrs. George Smith and Mrs. Joe Pettit of Owen, and Mrs. Edward LePage of Superior; ten grandchildren; two brothers, William of Minneapolis, Ernest of Sand Diego, Calif..

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 12, from Holy Rosary… (the obit continued on page 5, but I failed to copy that page)
