Luchterhand, Edwin (9 Apr. 1876 - 4 Feb. 1939)

Edwin Luchterhand, prominent farmer and former town of Colby chairman, died at 12:30 o’clock Saturday noon at the Marshfield hospital, where he had been a patient the past two weeks, acute leukemia being the cause of his departure. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at the farm home and at 2:00 P.M. at the Methodist Episcopal church in Colby. John Ockerlander, chairman of the town of Mayville and a close friend of the deceased who served on the county board with him, spoke at the funeral which was in charge of Alfred Smith of Milwaukee, a Bible student. Internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Alfred Herrmann, Frank Sterzinger, Harley Powers, Albert Hardrath, Arthur Schuette, Frank Duvall.

Mr. Luchterhand was born at Loyal, April 9, 1876, and was married July 2, 1902, to Miss Bertha Ewert who survives with five children. The children are Ernest and Emil on the home farm, Elmer of Milwaukee and Miss Alma Luchterhand and Mrs. Roy Grover of Minneapolis. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Frank and Albert of Loyal, Julius of Unity, Mrs. Walter Limp of Bloomer and Mrs. Minnie McGee of Saskatchewan, Canada.

The deceased was numbered among our industrious and prominent farmers, a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father, who always endeavored to perform his duties as he saw them.

Among the out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mrs. Al Finch of Raymond, South Dakota, Mrs. Luchterhand’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Schupe of Auburndale, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Grover of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Luchterhand of Milwaukee and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Limp of Bloomer, Wis.
