Strathmann, William Henry (22 Oct. 1864 - 2 Nov. 1937)

Wm. Henry Strathmann, a well known and well-liked pioneer of Colby, died Tuesday night at 9:15 at the Marshfield hospital, uremic poisoning of only a few days duration, being the cause of his departure to the heavenly goal. Funeral services will be held at Zion Ev. Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.

The deceased was born in Harpenfeldt, Germany, October 22, 1864, thus reaching the age of seventy-three years and ten days. He came to the United States when fourteen years of age and lived in Milwaukee until 1880 when he came to this community and engaged in farming, building a fine farm. He was married to Eveline Fleischauer at Colby, Wis., August 8, 1897, which union was blessed by two sons, Herman F. Strathmann of Marshfield, Wis., and R. W. Strathmann of Colby, both of whom survive. He is also survived by his widow, one brother, Fred Strathmann of Colby, and two sisters, Mary Landt of Milwaukee and Elizabeth Nagel of Milwaukee.

He was a faithful member of Zion Ev. Lutheran church and served that congregation as deacon for fifteen years. He was of a friendly and kindly disposition and a man of generous impulses, always remembering the hospitable ways of the early pioneer. He had filled the various relations of life, as son, husband, father, brother, friend, and filled them well. But now he is stricken from the ever lessening roll of our early settlers.
