Florence H. Stannard was born June 3, 1876 in Holton Twp., Marathon Co., WI. Her parents were William Wallace Stannard and Sarah Ann COwen, Wis. She married Gus Arndt on June 16, 1896 in Holton. They had 3 children - Sarah A. Arndt, Ella B. Arndt, and Lawrence M. Arndt. Lawrence died at age 9 months and was buried in Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Holton. Gustav Arndt was born in Germany in May 1865 (or 1863) and died in 1935 in Holton. He is buried in Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Holton. Florence died in January 1960 in Jefferson County, WI.
After the death of Florence's father William in 1879, her mother, Sarah, married John Murray Brown.
The grandparents of Florence H. Stannard were Ansel H. and Marilla (Hall) Stannard, and Theodore S. and Marilla Cowen of Holton (formerly of Tolland, CT and Cattaraugus County, NY). Ansel Stannard is buried in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Marilla Hall Stannard died and was buried in Little Genesee, Allegany Co., NY. Marilla Cowen died in Holton in 1892 and we believe she is buried in Colby Memorial Cemetery, although no marker or record has been found.
