Geiger, Fred (3 Apr 1861 - 19 Sep 1937)

Fred Geiger was born in Beetown April 3, 1861, and passed away on Sept. 19, 1937, at his home in the township of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.), having attained the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 16 days.

At the age of 21 he left his home in Beetown and moved with his parents to Bloomington. In the year 1894 he was united in marriage to Laura Fassbender, to which union were born seven children, four sons, Henry and Theodore at home, Howard of Appleton, and Rodney, deceased, and three daughters, Mrs. Julius Weinberg of Appleton, Mrs. Lyle Bulmer of Eau Claire and Mrs. Adolphus Yoder of Delavan.

In his middle life Mr. Geiger united with the First Congregational Church of Bloomington. He has been a charter member of the Modern Woodman of America for the past 40 years. He was street commissioner and marshal of Bloomington for many years.

About 20 years ago he moved with his family to his present home on a farm in the town of Longwood. For the past five and a half years he has been confined to his home after suffering a stroke.

Left to survive, besides his children, are his wife, eight grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were rendered by Rev. P.F. Pfaffman from the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Home at Owen, Wis. Interment was made at Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the Withee Camp of the Modern Woodman of America: Fred Koplitz, Henry Klaucke, Carl Berger, Carl Beilfuss, Herman Bartholmay and John Zasoba.
