Engeldinger, Caroline (27 Oct. 1867 - 19 July 1936)

After being in poor health for a number of years, Mrs. Mathias Engeldinger passed away Sunday morning at 11:15 after being confined to her bed for two and one-half days, complications of illnesses being the cause of her departure to the heavenly goal. A rosary service was conducted at the residence Tuesday night. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9:30, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were Math Allar Sr., Al Bauers, John Schlimm, Joe Kraus, John Sazama and Abe Butler.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Caroline Ashenbrenner, was born in Germany on Oct. 27, 1867, thus reaching the age of seventy-eight years, eight months and twenty-three days. When she was 21 years old, she came to the United States with her brother and located at Manitowoc. She married Matthias Engeldinger at Two Rivers April 19, 1887. Directly after their marriage, they moved onto a farm in the town of Colby where they resided until nineteen years ago when they moved to the city of Colby.

Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Anna, at home, and one son, Albert. Also one grand child.

The deceased was a faithful member of St. Mary’s church and the Christian Mothers society of that congregation. Like all people of her ancestry, she always performed her Christian duties and was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Herbert Ashenbrenner, Mrs. F. E. Braun and daughter, Caroll, of Two Rivers, Miss Tressie Ashenbrenner, John Ashenbrenner, Nic Engeldinger, Ed. Orth, George Orth, Mrs. John Mosuch, all of Manitowoc, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Walburn and daughters, Marie and Agnes, and Mr. and Mrs. James Orth of Menasha, John Kaiser, George Kaiser, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
