Degenhardt, Mary (1 Apr. 1902 - 2 Dec. 1984)

Loyal - Mrs. Leo (Mary) Degenhardt, 82, of Route 2, Loyal, died at midnight Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she was admitted Nov. 16.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. James J. Logan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Richard Bell, Tom Kohl, Norbert Degenhardt Jr., Mark and Steve Gregorich, and Donald Rottscheit.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, where the Parish Council of Catholic Women will say the rosary at 3:15 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 8.

The former Mary Binder was born April 1, 1902 in Bakerville, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig (Catherine Ertl) Binder, and received her education in schools there. She was married to Leo Degenhardt Oct. 17, 1922, in Loyal. They observed their golden wedding in 1972 and their 60th in 1982.

They farmed in the Loyal area until retirement in 1978. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Parish Council of Catholic Women and the Association of the Miraculous Medal.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Madeline) Bell, Mrs. Walter (Alberta) Kohl and Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Rottscheit, all of Marshfield, Mrs. Robert (Rose Marie) Gregorich of Spencer and Mrs. John (Barbara) Lynskey of Minneapolis; three sons, Paul of Marshfield, Norbert of Curtiss and Lawrence of Monroe Center, Ill.; three brothers, Joe, Anton and Al Binder, all of Bakerville; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three sisters and six brothers.
