Malinowski, Denise L. #2 (11 NOV 1954 - 10 AUG 2007)

Denise L. Malinowski, 52, Greenwood, died on Friday, Aug. 10, 007, at Neillsville Memorial Medical Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 17, from 5-7 p.m., with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m., at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. Cremainal interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greenwood, next to her father, at a later date.

Denise Lucille Degenhardt was born on Nov. 11, 1954, in Marshfield, to Edwin J. and Elizabeth J. "Betty" (nee Updyke) Degenhardt. She was raised and received her education in Greenwood, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1973. She married Gerald E. Malinowski on July 21, 1973, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. They lived in Bremerton, Wash., and Hawaii from 1974-76, where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Navy. While in Washington and Hawaii, she worked for the Sears Company and as a nurse’s aide. They returned to Hagar City, Wis., and she attended UW-River Falls and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in computer technology. She worked for IBM as a computer programmer and in technical support for 19 years. In 1996, she moved to Rochester and Oronoco, Minn., area and took classes for home appraisal. She worked as an appraiser in Rochester until her diagnosis of cancer in July 2005. She then moved back to Greenwood to be with her family until the time of her death. She had many interests, but especially loved being with her family, her dog and two cats, woodworking, glass etching, upholstering, decorating, remodeling and construction of homes, traveling, flying her plane, hiking, camping, boating/canoeing and an outdoor activities. She donated one of her golden retrievers to a school for visually impaired persons.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Gerald, Hager City, her mother, Betty Degenhardt, Greenwood; four brothers, Duane (Carol) Degenhardt, Klemme, Iowa, Denis (Mary) Degenhardt, Owen, Dany (Diane) Degenhardt, Spencer, and Darin (Florence) Degenhardt, Greenwood; four sisters, Diane Degenhardt, Eau Claire, Donna (Glenn) Halle, Neillsville, Denel Degenhardt, Greenwood, and Denet (Kevin) Oldham, Greenwood; 27 nieces and nephews; and 18 great-nieces and great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her father, Edwin; one nephew, Adam Oldham; her maternal grandparents, Floyd and Laura Updyke; and her paternal grandparents, Henry and Laverne Degenhardt.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
