In a double ring ceremony performed before an altar decorated with snapdragons and pink carnations, Miss Helen Horvat, daughter of Mrs. Johanna Horvat of Willard become the bride of Valentine Krainz, of Willard. The Reverend Raphael Stragisher officiated at the 9:30 a.m. mass, Wednesday, January 21, at the Holy Family Church at Willard.
As the bridal party entered the church, the soft strains of a wedding march were heard, while the bride’s attendants marched down the aisle and were met at the foot of the altar by the gentlemen attendants. They took their placed on either side of the pews. The bride came down the aisle on the arm of her brother, John Horvat, and was met by the groom.
The bride was dressed in white satin which had a fitted waist and a full skirt, and long sleeves which came to points over her wrists. A tiara of lace and pearls held her long white tulle veil, edged with lace. She carried a bouquet of narcissi and pink carnations. A heart shaped locket and a gold wrist watch set with two diamonds, gifts of the groom, completed her ensemble.
Miss Antonia Krainz, sister of the groom, attended as maid of honor. She was dressed in a petal pink taffeta gown fashioned with a square neck, a full skirt, and short, puffed sleeves. With it she wore a pink flowered tiara and matching circular shoulder-length veil.
Miss Josephine Laken, the bridesmaid, wore a blue taffeta gown with a full skirt, a square neckline and short, full sleeves. With it she wore a blue flowered tiara and matching circular shoulder-length veil. Both of the bride’s attendants carried bouquets of pink carnations tied with blue ribbons.
The groom, who was attended by Stanley Raik and Fred Schiltz, wore a blue suits and pink carnation boutonnieres.
A wedding breakfast and a six o’clock dinner were served to about 150 guests at the home of the bride’s mother. A beautiful three-tiered wedding cake served as the center piece for the dining table. The room was decorated with white, pink and blue streamers with a white bell in the center.
In the evening the happy couple was honored at a wedding dance held at Willard.
Those who attended the wedding from out of town included: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wade, Rantoul, Ill.,; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Frantz, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kebel, Greenwood; Mary Ann Laken, Eau Claire; Mrs. Sam Kram and daughters, Nancy and Constance, Milwaukee.
