Zagorski, Magdalena "Lena" Mary (July 22, 1911 - July 29, 2007)

Magdalena "Lena" M. Zagorski, age 96, of Withee, died on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford, where she had been a resident for the past two and a half years.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Fr. John Long officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Stanley, Benedict, Richard, Joseph, Steven and Alex Zagorski. Visitation was held at the church on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Magdalena Mary Haizel was born on July 22, 1911 in the Town of Mayville, Dodge County, WI to Joseph and Eva (Visvader) Haizel. As a young child, Lena moved with her family to Lublin, where she was raised and received her education. She moved to Milwaukee, where she worked for a shot time as a nanny and housekeeper. Lena was united in marriage to William Zagorski on September 7, 1931 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. They resided in the Town of Grover, where they raised their family and farmed. Her husband, Bill, died on February 16, 1986. She continued to reside on the farm until entering the nursing home in Medford. Lena was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, and playing bingo and Yahtzee.

She will be sadly missed by her eleven children: Dorothy (Richard) Bednarczyk of Menomonee Falls, WI, Margaret (Franklin) Kalmon of Stetsonville, WI, Patricia (Robert) Pichler of Waukesha, WI, Stanley (Nancy) Zagorski of Sussex, WI, Benedict (Patricia) Zagorski of Milwaukee, WI, Richard Zagorski of Wellpinit, WA, Joseph (Josephine) Zagorski of England, Steven Zagorski of Wellpinit, WA, Barbara (Ronald) Neils of Menomonee Falls, WI, Samuel (Theresa) Zagorski of Withee, WI, and Sandra Zagorski of Clintonville, WI; 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, one brother, Rudolph (Helen) Haizel of Medford; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; seven brothers: John, Frank, Joseph Jr., Andrew, Augustus, Frederick, and Jack Haizel; and three sisters: Mary Mitchell, Clara Seleski, and Evelyn Mayzsak.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
