Klessig, Mary (9 July 1887 - 21 June 1934)

Mrs. Albert Klessig died at her home at Curtiss last Thursday at the age of forty-six years, cancer being the cause of her departure. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Curtiss Reformed church, Rev. H. K. Hartmann of Colby officiating and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery. Pall bearers were Albert Mandel, Hugo Kobs, Herman Marquardt, Raymond Klessig, Harold Klessig and Franklin Kraut. Flower girls were Ethel, Wilma and Dorothy Kraut, Ethel Erickson, Marie Aldinger, Veleta Kraut, Maxine Marquardt and Mernabel Laabs.

Mrs. Klessig was born Mary Kraut, in Austria, on July 9th, 1887, and came to this vicinity with her parents, when she was five years of age. She lived continuously on the Kraut farm for twenty-four years, her husband having rented the farm after their marriage on June 1920.

She was president of the ladies’ aid of the Reformed church and a member of the American Legion auxiliary at Owen, Wis.

Surviving relatives include her husband, her mother, Mrs. Joseph Kraut Sr., a sister, Bertha, and two brothers, Frank and Arthur, all at Curtiss, and a brother Leo, at Stephenson, Mich. A nephew, Andor Kraut, 9, who has been cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Kleissig since infancy, also survives.
