Cole, Richard A. (20 MAY 1945 - 18 JUL 2007)

Richard A. Cole, 62, Colby, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in the town of Holton, as a result of a moped accident. Services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 23, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann officiated. Inurnment will be at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers were Greg ole, Tom Spuhler, Josh Cole, T. J. Cole, Cole Noeldner, Louie Plaskey, and Levi Ballenger.

Richard Arthur Cole was born on May 20, 1945, in the town of Holton, to Arthur and Myrtle (nee Schultz) Cole. He attended Colby Grade School and was a 1964 graduate of Colby, Wis. High School. He was in the Army from 1964-67 in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War. He married Sharon Rachu on June 15, 1968, and later divorced. He spent most of his life driving truck first for Wausau Tile and the last 16 years for de Boer Trucking. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, and the Colby VFW Post 2227.

Survivors include his two children, a daughter, Tammy Ballenger, Weston, and a son, Brent Cole, Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren, Levi and Cayli Ballenger; three brothers, Kenneth (Ruth) Cole, Marathon, Glenn (Kerry) Cole, and Jack (Cindy) Cole, Marshfield; three sisters, Rhonda Gearhart, Eagle Grove, Iowa, Sharon (Michael) Spuhler, Loyal, and Barb Noeldner, Unity; sister-in-law, Donna (Gerald) Spaeth, Spencer,; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Terry Cole; and two nieces, Tina and Angela Cole.
