Ludwig, Merlin (6 July 1931 - 24 June 2007)

Merlin Ludwig, 75, Medford, died Sunday, June 34th, 2007, at Aspirus Hospital, Wausau.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28th, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, Wis. Interment will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Father Darell Mitchell will preside.

Military rites will be provided by the Stetsonville American Legion Post #519.

Merlin was born July 6th, 1931, in the Town of Little Black, to Fred and Margaret (Hurth) Ludwig.

He graduated from Dorchester High School in 1949. Merlin and Roberta Hollman were married October 22nd, 1954, in Dorchester, Wis.

Merlin worked for Ackeret Brothers in Medford and retired from Weather Shield Manufacturing in 1994. He served his country in the National Guard with 32 years of service.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1744 of Medford, American Legion Post 519 of Stetsonville, AARP, National Horseshoe Pitcher’s Association and the Over 50 Softball League. He also enjoyed gardening.

Merlin is survived by his wife Roberta, Medford; his children, Jean (John) White, Springfield, MO, Cindy Glaumann, Medford, Nancy (Ricky) Sperl, Medford, Patty Raasch, Louisville, KY, Jeff (Barb) Ludwig, Medford and Jim (Tina) Ludwig, Medford; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters Jerry (Helen) Ludwig, Norma (Al) Meier, Joanne (Earl) Emmerich, Loretta (Pat) Kranz, Germaine Seidel, Dale (Kay) Ludwig, Duke (Connie) Ludwig, Bob (Nancy) Ludwig, Glen (Mary Jane) Ludwig, Marlene (Daryl) Hermans and Sandy (Dave) Bruesewitz.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in his name and a memorial will be established at a later date.

Maurina-Community Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
