Stevens, Kate #2 (31 JAN 1899)

Charley Sniteman gave his many friends something to think over and talk about the rest of their lives, on Tuesday, marrying Mrs. Kate Stevens.

The couple were out that afternoon in a hack, with some baggage, and were driven to Rev. Cresswell’s, and a few minutes later to the 4:35 train which they took for parts unknown to anyone but themselves.

They were so quiet about it all that nobody suspected a thing, and Hank Klopf was so utterly innocent that when a few days before, Mr. Sniteman in a bantering way asked him if he’d pay the expenses of the wedding trip if he (Charles) would get married, Hank declined, but offered to be $35 that C.C. wouldn’t get married inside a week, and Charley took him up, and has won the bet.

Mr. Sniteman owns a nice house in the south part of town, and also has roomy quarters over Anderson’s but he has ample means and it would be just like him to build a fine house in the spring.
