Manes, Robert (1801 - 13 March 1886)

Manes - Died at his residence near Neillsville, Wis., march 13, 1886, Mr. Robert Manes, aged 85 years.

He was born in Maine, in the year 1801, and has resided in Clark County for about thirty years. He was the father of eight children, five sons and three daughters. One son died in infancy in Maine; two Robert and David, died several years ago in Clark County, and William died in the army; Nathan still resides on the his farm four miles north. One daughter still resides on the old homestead, in charge of her aged mother. Mr. Manes was much honored and respected by all who knew him. During his illness he waited patiently for the hours of his departure. He died as he tried to live, in the Christian faith.

His funeral was largely attended on Sunday afternoon, from the residence, Rev. W. H. Hendren, Pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating.
