Voelker, Maynard John (10 Dec. 1914 - 5 Oct. 1996)

Spencer, Wis. - Maynard John Voelker, 81, formerly of Spencer, died Oct. 5, 1996, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community Funeral Home in Spencer. The Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate.

Burial will follow the service at West Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman in Clark County. Casketbearers will be his relatives and friends.

Visitation will be one hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Voelker was born Dec. 10, 1914, to John and Dora (Luepke) Voelker in Unity. He graduated from Spencer High School. He worked on a farm and as a cheesemaker until 1943, when he entered the U.S. Army. He served in northern France and Normandy. Following his 1946 discharge as a staff sergeant, he returned to Milwaukee and worked at General Electric. He retired in 1975 and returned to Spencer.

On Oct. 8, 1988, he married Caroline Pamperin at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. He entered the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen on Nov. 21, 1990, where he resided until the time of his death.

He was a member of VFW Post 2227 in Colby.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Voelker of Marshfield; one step-daughter, Karen Klein of Neillsville; six step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; his sister, Sylvia Salmon of New Berlin; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters.
