Kyle, Peter J. (11 Apr. 1846 - 13 Apr. 1932)

Peter J. Kyle quietly passed away Wednesday morning, April 13th, at the home of his daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. John Engeldinger, heart trouble being the cause of his departure to the distant shore. Although the deceased had been ailing several years, he had been ill only a few days. He had been in bed a few days and expected to be well soon and talked about helping with the garden work. Tuesday evening, he said he felt somewhat better but on Wednesday morning when his daughter went to talk to him he was found dead.

Funeral services will be held at the Colby M. E. church Monday, April 18th, Rev. F. M. Blish officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.

The deceased was born in Hicksville, Ohio, April 11th, 1846, thus reaching the age of eighty-six years and two days. He came here in 1882 and was considered one of the pioneers of Colby. His occupation was head sawyer and millwright. He was married to Laura E. Swan in Hicksville, Ohio, July 2nd, 1882, to which union five children were born but only one, Mrs. John Engeldinger, survives. He is also survived by one sister, Emma Johnson, Denver, Colo. Also, the following grand children: Harry Kyle, Colby; Clarence Kyle, Edgar; Florence Kyle, Edgar; Lenore Engeldinger, Norma Engeldinger and Kenneth Engeldinger.

The deceased, like all our early pioneers, was of a hospitable disposition, a good Christian, a kind husband and father and was friendly to all.

Hi, I ran across this listing while searching the internet. I am Clarence Kyle's daughter. Peter would have been my Great Grandpa. I remember as a child going often to Colby to visit Aunnt Goldie & Uncle John. This posting brought back a lot of fond memories. Sincerely, Elaine (Kyle) Fristed
