Foley, Kathryn M. (13 MAR 1908 - 21 DEC 1936)

The many Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) friends were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Kathryn Foley, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. F.P. Foley, which occurred at St. Louis, Mo., Sunday morning as she was returning from church. It is reported the car in which she was riding swerved into a street car and was crushed against a concrete car post. Kathryn and two other nurses were killed by the crash.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at the St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Clement Haines officiating. Interment will be made in the Memorial Cemetery.

Kathryn Monica Foley was born at Neshkoro, Wis. on March 13, 1908 and was 28 years old at time of death. She grew to young womanhood here, and after attending the St. Louis parochial school and three years of public high school, she graduated from Antigo High School in 1925. From there she went to Fond du Lac where she graduated from a nurses course at St. Mary’s in 1928. After a year of specializing in psychiatry at Cook County Hospital at Chicago, she accepted a position as nurse at the Wis. General Hospital at Madison, where she was employed until last September. She was then given a leave of absence and began a course in operating room surgery at St. Louis October 1st. She was to have completed her course in January and was scheduled to return to Madison soon after for a better position.

Of the young ladies in Dorchester, Kitty, as she was better known, was a favorite with everyone. Her sweet nature and her friendly, understanding attitude helped to win her many friends here as well as everywhere she went. Her passing will leave a void in the lives of her friends and in the family circle that only time can heal. We join the many friends in offering the hand of sympathy and understanding to the mourning family.

Surviving are her parents, Dr. and Mrs. F.P. Foley, four sisters, Miss Constance of Antigo, Miss Frances of Neenah, Miss Madeline of East St. Louis, Ill., and Miss Claire of Fond du Lac; and four brothers, Dr. C.J. of Red Granit, Keith of Madison, Terrence of Menomonie and Kenneth at home.
