Lang, Joseph (17 MAR 1867 - 4 FEB 1936)

Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon at 10 o’clock at the St. Louis Catholic Church for Joseph Lang, who passed away Tuesday evening at 11 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, after a lingering illness. Mr. Lang suffered a stroke about a year ago and a second about five months ago when he entered the hospital, where he has been since that time. Services were conducted by the Rev. Fr. Clement Haines and interment took place in the Memorial Cemetery.

Joseph Lang was born near Two Rivers, Wis., on March 17, 1867 and was 68 years, 10 months and 11 days old at time of death. In early manhood he divided his time between farming and working in lumber camps. On May 1, 1893 he was united in marriage to Pauline Schoeffle, who passed away on Aug. 31 of last year. Following their marriage, which took place in the old Catholic Church her in Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), Mr. and Mrs. Lang moved to their farm home four and one-half miles northwest of the village where they have resided for the past forty-two years.

During his many years here, Mr. Lang and his family made a host of friends who will miss him from their family life as will his family.

He leaves five daughters, Mrs. Herman Fritsche, nee Vera, Dorchester, Mr. John Ludwig, nee Olive, Saskatchewan, Canada, Mrs. John Ottoson, nee Elizabeth, Mrs. Frank Schrant, nee Agnes, and Miss Anne Lang, all of Milwaukee, and one son, Frank, at home. He also leaves one brother, John Lang of Dorchester and one sister at Green Bay, and fifteen grandchildren.

All of Mr. Lang’s children attended the services with the exception of Mrs. John Ludwig of Canada, who was unable to come. Pallbearers were Joseph Ruprich, Theodore Decker, Anton Ludwig, Joseph Kronschnabl, A.P. Miller and Frank Engel.

The many friends of the Lang family join us in offering sincerest sympathy to them in their hour of sorrow.
