Hagen, Elizabeth (30 APR 1854 - 2 SEP 1935)

Dorchester friends were shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Hagen, who passed away at her home in the village (Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis.) Sunday afternoon, Sept. 2, 1935, at 3:30, following a heart attack. Mrs. Hagen had been in poor health the past few years, although she was able to be around. The past few weeks her condition had improved considerably and she was up until about 15 minutes before she passed away.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the St. Peter Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Brandt officiating, and burial was made in the Memorial Cemetery with Gust and Al Nixdorf, M.E. Vircks, John Habeck, Henry Gipp and Herman Marquardt acting as pallbearers. Flower girls were Misses Hildegarde Beisner, Hamae Hoffman, Sylvia Plockelman, Delores Liepke, Arlene Belting and Arlene Violand.

Elizabeth Horn was born at Steinbach, Germany, April 30, 1854 and was 81 years, 4 months and 1 day old at time of death. On November 30, 1876 she was united in marriage to Henry Hagen at Hermesgruen, Germany. In 1881 they came to the United States, settle at Fieldon, Ill., where they lived for twelve years. In 1893 they came to Dorchester where they have since resided. Mr. Hagen passed away Dec. 17, 1922. Seven children were born to them, one daughter, Marie, and one son, Frank, preceded her in death.

A quiet, lovable woman, Mrs. Hagen gathered a host of friends around her who enjoyed knowing her and who, with her children, deeply regret and mourn her passing. As a member of the Lutheran Church, she gave liberally of herself to the work and she leaves a place that only time can fill.

Mrs. Hagen leaves four daughters, Mrs. John Lang, nee Anna, Dorchester, Miss Minnie at home, Mrs. Louis Doernberg, Antigo, and Mrs. Leo Banditt, nee Lena, Abbotsford, and one son, Henry of Dorchester, Wis. She also leaves six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Out of town relatives and friends attending the services were Mrs. Louis Doernberg and son, Kenneth, Antigo, Mrs. Bertha Hagen, son, Elmer, and daughter, Mrs. Peter Peehauer, and Mrs. Paul Pudleiner of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Bloczynski and Mrs. Jake Bloczynski of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bloczynski of Unity, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Banditt of Abbotsford, Wis.

The Clarion joins the host of friends in offering deepest sympathy to the mourning ones in their dark hour.
