Szerlong, Filomena (26 JUL 1864 - 17 DEC 1936)

Mrs. Filomena Szerlong, aged 72 years, 4 months and 22 days died at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Chippewa Falls on Thursday, Dec. 17, 1936, the cause being a dilated heart, from which she had been a sufferer for the past fifteen years. Deceased was born in Poland on July 26, 1864. In 1883 she was united in marriage to Joseph Szerlong and they arrived in America in 1885, residing for a time in Minneapolis, and in 1893 came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), residing on a farm in the town of Withee. Her husband died thirty years ago, and since has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ignatz Przybylski.

Deceased leaves four sons, Frank of Galesburg, Ill.; John of Harwich, Conn.; and Adam and Michael of Thorp. Also two daughters, Mrs. Anna Przybylski of Thorp and Mrs. Agnes Persok of Milwaukee. Also twenty grandchildren.

The funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Monday, Dec. 21 at ten a.m., Father F.A. Kulig officiating, assisted by Rev. Jos. Rapala, interment following in the parish cemetery.

The pallbearers were sons, Frank, John, Michael and Adam Szerlong, and sons-in-law Ignatz Przybylski and Leon Persok.
