Horner, Mr./Mrs. August (50th Anniv. - 12 Apr. 1930)

Mr. and Mrs. August Horner celebrated their fiftieth or golden wedding anniversary at their home in the city of Colby last Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13. The children and grand children at the celebration together numbered twenty-five. The rooms were nicely decorated in white and gold for the occasion.

The out of town guests present included Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schepp and family, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Horner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Horner and family and Miss Helen Horner, all of Milwaukee; Mrs. Mary Umathum, a sister of Mrs. Horner, Kenosha. A huge wedding cake, decorated with golden leaves, was brought along from Milwaukee. Golden crowns were made of the leaves which Mr. and Mrs. Horner wore during the celebration. Wedding rings were given to each. Alvin Horner brought his radio along from Milwaukee and requests were played for them over WTMU.

Mr. Horner was born in Manitowoc seventy-four years ago and Mrs. Horner was born in Austria sixty-eight years ago. She came to this country when she was still a small girl, with her parents. They were married in the town of Beaver, Clark county, in 1880, and settled on a farm in the town of Beaver, which they purchased, at this time. They have seven children and sixteen grand children. The sons and daughters are Mrs. Paul Schepp, Fond du Lac; Wm. Horner, Milwaukee; Mrs. Louise Behenneman, Sterling. Colorado; Mrs. Mike Marx, Kenosha; Miss Helen Horner, Milwaukee; John Horner of West Allis; Alvin Horner, Milwaukee. Ten years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Horner sold their farm and moved to Colby.
