Yes... but, that would be the case with most families in the US for 400 years. Gen Garrick Mallory studied indian sign language and recorded the signs thus providing the basis for the sign language used by the deaf. I note some Mallorys who were American Indian in Southern California (Pipe Mallory) and a Fred Mallory in Minnesota.
