Glamkowski, Edward (9 APR 1894 - 25 JUN 1936)

Edward Glamkowski died at his home in the town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) at two o’clock Thursday morning following a stroke of paralysis which he suffered on Tuesday and from which he never rallied. He had been in ill health for the past five years and had been failing noticeably in the past few months.

He enlisted in the army on April 26, 1917, and served in Waco, Texas and in France where he was sounded while with Co. A, 119th Machine Gun Bat., 32nd Div. He was discharged June 1, 1919.

Edward Glamkowski was born in the town of Withee on April 9, 1894, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Glamkowski and had reached the age of 42 years, 2 months and 16 days. He was brought up in the local schools and spent the greater part of his life in this vicinity. Besides an aged father and mother, he leaves to mourn his untimely death, two children, Edward Jr. and Alice of Gilman, two brothers, Anton and Stanley of Thorp, and one sister, Mrs. Stanley Smigaj of Thorp.

The funeral was held at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church on Monday morning, Rev. F.A. Kulig officiating, and military honors were accorded by Cecil Tormey Post No. 118 of the American Legion with firing squad and taps at the grave, interment being made in St. Hedwig’s Church Cemetery. Ex-service men served as pallbearers, Thos Polnaszek, John Filipek, Mike Kalicki, Steve Lewandowski, Gus Weisner and Otto Seefeldt.
