Heindl, Wilfred 'Willie' (17 Dec 1930 - 27 May 2007)

DORCHESTER -- Wilfred "Willie" Bernard Heindl, 76, of Dorchester, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield, under Ministry Home Hospice Care.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, Wis. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. The Rev. Paul Gitter will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2007, at Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. and a military service following by Colby VFW Post 2227 and Dorchester American Legion Post 517.

Willie was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Dorchester to Hubert "Martin" and Theresa (Dessl) Heindl. He served his country in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned home to take over the family farm until he retired in 1991. Willie and Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Weber were married Oct. 21, 1967 in Milan. In his retirement years he delivered the Marshfield Buyers Guide and worked at the town of Mayville Recycling Center. Willie enjoyed bowling, driving tractor and working in the woods.

Willie served on the board for the former Dorchester Cooperative for six years, with two years as president. He served 20 years for the town of Mayville, with 16 years as chairman. He was the Commander for four years and chaplain for 10 years for the Dorchester American Legion Post 517 as well as the County Commander of the American Legion for two years. He was a member of Colby VFW Post 2227. Willie also was a member of the Dorchester Cemetery Board for several years and was a member of the Wisconsin Town's Association, Catholic Order of Foresters, and St. Louis Catholic Church.

Willie is survived by his wife, Betty of Dorchester; his children, Margaret (Pat) Mateer of Abbotsford, Norbert (Marcia) Heindl of Richardson, Texas, Joanne (James) Juedes of Ringle, and Thomas Heindl of Athens; eight grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Cecelia (Celia) Feldbruegge of Dorchester and Gertrude Rozek of Milwaukee; and two brothers Clemence "Clem" (Margaret) Heindl of Medford and Evarist "Evy" Heindl of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norbert, Lawrence, and Joseph Heindl; and three sisters, Matilda "Tillie" Gonnering, Catherine Pinter, and Sister Bernette Heindl.
