Cross, Margaret L. (1 May 1879 - 12 Aug. 1951)

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Unity Methodist Church for Mrs. Eugene Cross, 72, of the Town of Unity, who passed away unexpectedly of a stroke at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Rev. Fred C. Smith officiated at the services and burial was made in the West Spencer Cemetery.

The body reposed at the Swarthout Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Saturday when it was taken to the church.

Mrs. Cross, the former Margaret Icke, was born May 1, 1879 in Wrightstown, Wisconsin and came to Marshfield, Wisconsin as a child. She had resided in the Town of Unity for 37 years and was a member of the Methodist Church there. Her marriage to Eugene Cross took place in Marshfield, December 23, 1908.

Mrs. Cross is survived by her husband, two sons, John Cross of Marshfield and James at home; one grandchild, a brother, George, Bremerton, Wash., and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Moffatt, Memphis, Tenn.; Mrs. Caroline Kohnke, Eau Claire; Mrs. Charles Price, Baraboo; and Mrs. Ralph Wall, Dayton, Ohio.

One daughter preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Otto Bruss, Clifford Ammons, Frank Seefeldt, Fred Bruesewitz, William Luepke and John Neumann.

In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Antone Nielsen, Mrs. Ida M. Seefeldt, Mrs. Earl Pickett, Mrs. William Luepke, Mrs. Frank Seefeldt and Mrs. Frank Pickett.

Relatives from out of town here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Kohnke, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Price, Baraboo; Mr. and Mrs. Willis Jerome and son and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Egger, Barron, and friends from Colby, Loyal, Unity and Marshfield.
