COLBY -- Leonard F. Denk, 94, of Colby, formerly of Loyal, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at the Colonial Center where he had been a resident since Jan. 9, 2005.

Funeral services for Leonard will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal, with the Very Rev. Roman Kaiser officiating.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leonard's grandsons and nephews.

Visitations will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and again on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Leonard Francis Denk was born March 30, 1913, the son of William and Mary (Gintner) Denk on the home farm in Greenwood. He was a 1930 graduate of Greenwood High School.

He was united in marriage to Mary L. Scherer on Nov. 23, 1935, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood.

Leonard and Mary farmed and raised their family in the area. Leonard was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and had a great love for music, singing and dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Sharon (Allen) Schoonover of Loyal, Diane (Gerald) Anderegg of Loyal, LaVonne (Charles) Dragon of Hamilton, Ohio, Patricia Denk of Marshfield, Kathleen (Lawrence) Hutchinson of Stratford, Linda (Robert) Newcomer of Woodbridge, Va., Jeffrey (Kate) Denk of Long Beach, Calif., and Gordon Denk of Spencer; 33 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; his brothers and sisters, Virgil Denk of Decorah, Iowa, Marion (Harold) Lyons of Hot Springs Village, Ark., William (Marcia) Denk Jr. of Greenwood, Bernard (Bev) Denk of Greenwood, Dorothy Wagner of Greenwood, John "Jack" (Shirley) Denk of Genesee Depot and Ronald (Mary Jo) Denk of Cedarburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gerald, Abdon, Robert and Adelbert Denk; his children, Kristin, Kenneth and Terrance; and one grandson, Jimmy Lee in infancy.
