Word has been received here of the death of August Bruss, a former Unity, Wis. resident, in Chicago, Ill. at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Peterson.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Brillion, Wis. Prior to his retirement several years ago, Mr. Bruss operated a farm two miles south of Unity.

*August Bruss was married to Margaretha Ohlrogge, 19 Sep 1883.  She was the daughter of John and Elsaba (Goos) Ohlrogge of New Holstein, Wisconsin.

Ohlrogge, John (2 Jan 1825 - 3 Mar 1899)

On Tuesday occurred the funeral of John Ohlrogge, an old resident of this town (Chilton, Wis.). Mr. Ohlrogge was born Jan. 2, 1825, in Germany. He came to America in 1847, and three years later located here. He was married in 1852 to Miss E. Goos. He was a farmer until some ten years ago, when he moved into the village. He leaves a widow and two children, Gustave of Chilton, and Margaretha.

Elsaabe Goos Ohlrogge (21 Sep 1825 - 4 May 1910)

Died, at the home of her son, Gustave, in this city (Chilton, Wisconsin), on Wednesday afternoon, Elsabe Ohlrogge, aged 84 years and 8 months. The deceased was in good health until a week previous to her death when she was taken sick and failed rapidly until she passed away. She was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, September 21, 1825. She came to America in 1852, locating at New Holstein where many of her country people had established homes, and where she was married, the same year, to John Ohlrogge who died 12 years ago. She came to this city 8 years ago and the past six years had made her home with her son, Gustave. The deceased was a fine old lady of the pioneer type, sturdy and honest, a good helpmate and the best of mothers.


She is survived by one son, Gustave, of this city and one daughter, Mrs. August Bruss of Thorp, Wisconsin.


The funeral will take place on this Saturday, afternoon from the house with interment in and family lot in the New Holstein cemetery.
