Joseph P. Olejniczak

THORP -- Joseph Paul Olejniczak, 82, of Thorp, died Monday, April 23, 2007, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Burial will be in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joseph was born Sept. 9, 1924, in the town of Roosevelt, Taylor County, to Matt and Pearl (Glowacki) Olney. He married Irene F. Harycki on Oct. 24, 1944, at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. Irene preceded him in death July 14, 2004. They farmed in the town of Roosevelt until 1951 when they moved to Thorp. Joe then worked at Foremost Foods and retired in 1987.

He is survived by his children, Sandra Pratt of Bloomington, Ill., Shirley Olejniczak of Milwaukee, Susan Olejniczak-Pomeroy of Minneapolis, Barbara ((Bill) Olejniczak-Bates of St. Germain, Carmen Olejniczak (Hartley Schilling) of Duluth, Minn., Wayne Olejniczak of San Antonio, Texas, and Vivian Olejniczak of Marshfield; four grandchildren; three sisters, Claire (Don) Peterson of Onalaska, Marian Plunkett of Santa Ana, Calif., and Florence "Flo" DiGiorgio of San Jose, Calif.
