Fierke, Donald (28 Jan 1927 - 15 Apr 2007)

Donald Fierke, 80, Stetsonville, died Sunday, April 15th, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care, Marshfield.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated April 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic, Church, Stetsonville, with Fr. Frederick Brost presiding. Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Randy and Scott Klieforth, Dan Beck, Nick Kleparski, Brian and Dave Loucks.

Donald was born January 28th, 1927, in the Town of Deer Creek, the son of Victor and Eleanor (Hennlich) Fierke. He received his early education in the Town of Deer Creek and Dorchester High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 18 months during World War II.

Donald and Helen Kleparski were united in marriage on October 7th, 1950, at St. John’s Cathedral, Milwaukee. They farmed in the Town of Deer Creek and he retired from Packaging Corporation of Colby in 1991.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, VFW Post #5729 and Stetsonville American Legion Post #519. Donald was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Fierke, Stetsonville; four sons, Larry (Deb) Fierke, Jim (Doreen) Fierke, Bob (Kathy) Fierke all of Stetsonville and David Fierke, Medford; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters, Doris (Irve) Kleiforth, Abbotsford, and Marilyn (David) Metz, Plymouth; and one brother, William (Nancy) Fierke, Cary, NC.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Elizabeth Loucks and Carol Ridderbusch.

Maurina-Community Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
