Morgan, William Edward (9 Feb. 1876 - 3 Apr. 1945)

William Edward Morgan passed away at his home in Unity on Tuesday, April 3, 1945, at the age of 69 years, one month and 25 days, after an illness of nearly three years. He suffered a fourth stroke on Feb. 23. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church at Colby on Saturday morning at 9:30, Rev. F. A. Bienkowski officiating at the rites. Burial was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Ed Feit, Tony Will, Peter Apfelbeck, W. E. Cook, Wm. Schultz and John Sorenson. Those in charge of the flowers were Arlene Tennis, Joan Tennis, Anne Steinwand and Sandra Steinwand.

Mr. Morgan was born in Osceola, Fond du Lac county, on Feb. 9, 1876, and moved to Unity in 1901. In 1903 he purchased the hardware business in Unity, which he conducted for 17 years. On August 11, 1904, he was married to Mary Harry of Colby. In 1920 he traded his store for a farm and continued farming up to the time of his illness.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Roger and Maurice. S-Sgt. Maurice Morgan has served in the armed forces for two years and seven months. The last 16 months he has been overseas. Also surviving are one brother, John Morgan of Fond du Lac; one sister, Mrs. James (Frances) Welsh of Osceola. His mother and father and three sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Morgan was well and favorably known in this community for his honest and congenial disposition. His many friends were sorry to learn of his death. Out of town people who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Morgan of Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. James Welsh of Osceola; Miss Caroline Reichert of LaCrosse; Wm. Will and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lakosky of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Lewie Harry of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. George Reuden of Dorchester, Wis.
