Tischendorf, Olga #2 (8 DEC 1867 - 2 MAY 1933)

Friends and neighbors were shocked when they learned that Mrs. Robert H. Tischendorf passed away at the farm home north of the village (Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis.) Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Death was caused by chronic myocarditis and came very suddenly and unexpectedly. Mrs. Tischendorf was busy a few minutes earlier transplanting some tomato plants and sat down for a rest. While seated there she gasped suddenly but when Mr. Tischendorf, who was seated near her, reached her side she was dead.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the home at 1 o’clock and at the Evangelical Peace Church at 2 o’clock, with Rev. G.C. Hahn of Colby, officiating. Burial took place in the Peace Cemetery with her four sons, Wm. H., Walter, Harry and Paul acting as pallbearers. The Women’s Union, of which she was a member, attended the services as a body.

Olga Steinhaueser was born Dec. 8, 1867 at Eisenberg, in Grosherzogthum, Weimar, Germany. She grew to young womanhood there and on Sept. 29, 1889 she was united in marriage to Robert H. Tischendorf. In 1891 they came directly to Dorchester from Germany. They lived in the village and on various farm until 1902, when they moved to their present farm. Six children were born to this happy union, all of whom, with their father, survive her. They are Wm. H., Paul and Helen, Mrs. John Mueller, of Dorchester, Clara, Mrs. Ernest Hancock of Los Angeles, Calif., Walter of Viroqua, and Harry of Park Falls. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 3 brothers and one sister in Germany. She was 65 years, 4 months and 22 days old at time of death.

To the many friends of the Tischendorfs, Mrs. Tischendorf was always a sweet, lovable lady of a refined character. No matter where she went she always made a host of friends who will greatly miss her cheery smile and kind words. Her place as a devoted and tender wife and mother can never be filled. Yet since she has gone to her Maker, He will send a comforter to fill the emptiness and keep her alive to her loved ones in thoughts and actions.

The many friends join us in offering deepest sympathy to the mourning ones.

Out of town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tischendorf, Viroqua, Harry Tischendorf and family, Park Falls, Fred Koehler and family, Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tischendorf, Minocqua, Mrs. Martha Dahl, Ogema and a host of friends from Medford and Stetsonville.

Mr. Tischendorf accompanied his son, Walter to Viroqua Friday for a few week’s visit with them.
