Gored To Death By A Bull

Melvin Meissner, 30, Unity, a partner in a livestock trucking firm, was gored to death by a bull while loading the animal on a truck Monday, Marathon County Coroner, John Hildensperger reported.

The victim died at 2 p.m. shortly after being admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital at Wausau.

The accident happened at the stock yards at Little Chicago.

Meissner was being taken to the hospital in a truck when the driver came upon a county traffic officer’s car on highway 54 about 4 miles north of Wausau. He stopped and the officer radioed for an ambulance which transported the victim to the hospital.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Zion Lutheran Church at Colby. Rev. Hoffman officiated.

Melvin was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Meissner and was a veteran of World War II.
